To My Mormon Friends
This Blog is my personal musings concerning the study of theology. You are welcome to read my thoughts and are free to add your comments or ask questions. While I welcome your comments I will delete and will not respond to comments that are rude. I am not an ANTI-Mormon. I am a Presbyterian Churchman and terrible sinner in need of my Lords terrific saving grace. I am no longer a member of the LDS church; I went through a 6 month process with the LDS bureaucracy to have my name removed from the rolls of the church. Please do not threaten me with church discipline or courts as I do not care. This is not the place to forcefully try to spread your beliefs.
The purpose of this Blog is to enable me to better study and express my belief in God. I would invite you to get a copy of the Institutes and read along with me. I try to read 2-4 sections a day (10 minutes). I post excerpts that stand out to me as I read them. I have particularly enjoyed Chapter 10 (The Similarity of the Old and New Testaments) of Book 2 (Knowledge of God the Redeemer). This section is an introduction to Covenant Theology as John Calvin understood it. I am looking forward to Chapter 11 (The Difference Between the Two Testaments). The first section seems to point to Calvin’s understanding of Redemptive History (salvation history / Heilsgeschichte). Should you choose to read Calvin with me let me suggest that you use the Library of Christian Classics 1960 edition. If you do not want to buy a copy I will continue to link to Christian Classics Ethereal Library, so you can read the posts in their context.
Once again everybody is welcome, courteous comments are welcome, civil disagreement is welcome.
“Whoever is not satisfied with Christ alone, strives for something beyond perfection.”
-John Calvin-

Beautiful quote at the bottom.
